Our son, Iain David Macleod (or "Indy" to his friends) was born on August 4th, 2011. At three months old a tumor was found in his left eye and the eye had to be removed to save his life. Soon after he was diagnosed with the genetic form of retinoblastoma, which means he carries the genetic mutation in every cell of his body, rather than just a single cell of his eye. This means he has a greater risk of developing other tumors, particularly of retinoblastoma in his good eye till around age four and sarcoma's when he is older.
We are based in Vancouver BC. He is 6 months old now and he is doing really well. We are very happy to have great friends and family that care about us, and we are very lucky to have such great medical professionals working hard to save Indy's vision and life.
We created this website to tell the ongoing story of Indy's battle with cancer.
If you are new to this site, you may want to read the story from the beginning in the "articles" section, or if you are a regular visitor or want to know the latest, you can read our postings in "blog" form.
